Job Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, provides technical support to construction staff. Reviews plans and other technical documents, answers questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project, and monitors costs and project progress.  May assist in the development of cost estimates or tentative schedules.  Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field.  


Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Working with the Project manager, Superintendent, and the estimating/purchasing effort in the final development of the various bid packages and the baseline construction schedule. 
  • Working with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop site utilization programs. 
  • Working with Superintendent for support of daily activity on large projects.  Tasks may include: subcontractor tracking and coordination, and other assignments at the Project Manager’s request. 
  • Establishing, maintaining, conducting, and policing detailed procedures for the submittal, review, coordination, approval, and distribution of shop drawings, samples, etc. 
  • Establishing and maintaining all project engineering files relating to subcontract and bid package records, plans, specifications, changes, clarifications, and as-built and closeout documents. 
  • Reviewing all vendor schedules of values and preparing the general schedule of values as coordinated with the Project Manager. 
  • Managing the periodic requisition procedure for review, submittal, and payment. 
  • Expediting vendor estimates and proposals and preparing appropriate company estimates and proposals for changes to be submitted to the Owner. 
  • Determining appropriateness and preparing subcontractor change orders to be processed through the Project Manager. 
  • Evaluating subcontractor payment requisitions relative to actual work performed. 
  • Working with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Project Accountant to prepare the general requisition and follow it through to payment. 
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned. 


Essential Functions: 

  • Must be able to safely navigate a construction site – may include climbing ladders, moving around scaffolding, and traveling through uneven ground  
  • Ability to see   
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time  
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of Sabey employees and subcontractors  
  • Must be able to interface with technology and operate a computer 


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 4-year college degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent experience.  
  • 1 to 2 years construction experience.  
  • Proficiency in construction management software and thorough knowledge of computer software applications  
  • MEP background preferred  


Minimum Competencies: 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite   
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language – must be able to demonstrate strong written and oral comprehension and expression  
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently  
  • Working knowledge of construction engineering best practices  
  • Organizational skills
