JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Project Scheduling is responsible for leading and developing SCI's scheduling function across its portfolio of construction projects. This position will establish company-wide scheduling standards, implement consistent scheduling processes, improve schedule visibility and accountability, and provide executive leadership with an independent assessment of project schedule performance and risk.
The Director will work closely with project managers, superintendents, preconstruction, procurement, commissioning, design teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership to ensure project schedules accurately reflect the work required to successfully deliver complex mission-critical projects.
This position will also lead SCI's implementation and continued development of scheduling technologies, including the use of AI-enabled scheduling and project-control tools.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Establish and maintain SCI's company-wide project scheduling standards, procedures, templates, coding structures, and reporting requirements.
- Develop a consistent scheduling methodology from preconstruction through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, IST, turnover, and project closeout.
- Serve as SCI's subject-matter expert for project scheduling and schedule controls.
- Provide independent schedule oversight across SCI's construction portfolio.
- Develop scalable scheduling processes capable of supporting SCI's continued data center growth.
- Build and mentor SCI's future scheduling organization as workload increases.
- Establish schedule structures, activity coding, calendars, WBS standards, baseline procedures, update requirements, and schedule-reporting expectations.
- Develop standard schedule templates for data center construction programs.
- Train project teams on effective use and interpretation of project schedules.
- Work with project teams to establish realistic baseline schedules during preconstruction and project startup.
- Develop and review detailed project schedules incorporating design and engineering; permitting and jurisdictional approvals; long-lead procurement; site and building construction; electrical and mechanical systems; equipment installation and startup; controls integration; utility energization; Level 3 commissioning; Level 4 commissioning; Integrated Systems Testing (IST); and customer turnover and contractual completion milestones.
- Confirm schedules accurately represent the project's planned means, methods, sequencing, and field conditions.
- Ensure schedules include appropriate logic, durations, constraints, float, resource considerations, and contractual milestones.
- Schedule Analysis & Risk Management
- Perform regular schedule health assessments and critical-path reviews.
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, potential delays, and emerging critical-path issues before they affect contractual milestones.
- Evaluate schedule float and identify activities consuming available schedule contingency.
- Develop schedule risk assessments for executive leadership.
- Identify opportunities for schedule acceleration and improved sequencing.
- Develop and evaluate recovery schedules when projects fall behind.
- Provide recommendations regarding staffing, sequencing, procurement, work shifts, subcontractor performance, and other schedule-recovery actions.
- Support quantitative schedule-risk analysis where appropriate.
- Procurement & Supply Chain Integration
- Integrate equipment procurement and vendor manufacturing schedules into the overall project schedule.
- Monitor engineering approvals, submittals, manufacturing, factory testing, shipping, delivery, installation, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Identify long-lead equipment risks that could affect construction or commissioning milestones.
- Coordinate with procurement and project teams to develop mitigation strategies for equipment delays.
- Schedule Performance & Executive Reporting
- Develop clear schedule dashboards and executive-level reporting.
- Provide senior leadership with regular assessments of overall project schedule health, critical-path activities, milestone performance, schedule variance, procurement risk, commissioning readiness, recovery activities, and major schedule decisions requiring leadership attention.
- Translate complex scheduling information into concise business-level reporting.
- Develop portfolio-level reporting that allows SCI leadership to understand schedule risk across multiple projects and markets.
- Contractor & Subcontractor Schedule Management
- Establish minimum scheduling requirements for subcontractors and major vendors.
- Review subcontractor schedules for logic, completeness, manpower assumptions, sequencing, procurement, and milestone alignment.
- Challenge unrealistic assumptions or schedules that do not accurately represent the work.
- Participate in schedule review meetings with project teams, major subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assist project teams in holding contractors accountable for schedule commitments.
- Change & Delay Analysis
- Support project teams in evaluating schedule impacts associated with changes, owner decisions, design revisions, equipment delays, and unforeseen conditions.
- Perform time-impact analysis when appropriate.
- Maintain clear documentation supporting schedule-related changes and delays.
- Assist project leadership and legal teams with schedule analysis related to delay claims, contractual notifications, and schedule disputes.
- Evaluate contractor requests for extensions of time.
- Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate and implement scheduling technologies that improve project predictability and field execution.
- Support integration of scheduling information with Procore, project-management systems, dashboards, and other project-control platforms.
- Evaluate AI-enabled tools for schedule analysis, progress verification, forecasting, risk identification, and schedule optimization.
- Develop lessons learned and use historical project performance to improve future schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of progressive construction scheduling and project-controls experience.
- Extensive experience managing schedules for large, complex construction projects.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles and critical-path analysis.
- Experience developing, maintaining, auditing, and recovering large construction schedules.
- Strong understanding of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project-turnover sequencing.
- Experience evaluating schedule delays and preparing time-impact analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to work with project executives, project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, owners, and consultants.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate complex schedule issues clearly to executive leadership.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 20+ years of construction scheduling or project-controls experience.
- Significant data center or mission-critical construction experience.
- Experience with large-scale electrical and mechanical infrastructure projects.
- Experience integrating equipment procurement and commissioning into construction schedules.
- Experience with hyperscale or multi-phase data center programs.
- Experience implementing Primavera P6 within a growing construction organization.
- Experience leading or developing a scheduling/project-controls team.
- Experience with schedule-risk analysis and forensic scheduling.
- Experience with Procore, Microsoft Project, Power BI, scheduling analytics, or AI-enabled project-control platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field; equivalent extensive construction experience may be considered.
MINIMUM COMPETENCIES
- Advanced knowledge of the English language – written and oral comprehension and expression.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Risk Management – assessing and mitigating risks involving the construction department. Acute awareness of any potential public liabilities.
- Must be committed to continuous learning and growing within the organization.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, without compromising quality of work.
- Aptitude and willingness to learn and utilize AI tools and technology.
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $154,017 - $231,026.
