Another Source's client, Sabey Corporation, is recruiting a Payroll Specialist to join their team in Tukwila, WA. This is an opportunity to take on a high-impact payroll role supporting multiple Sabey companies and approximately 375 employees across multiple states. You'll work at the intersection of Payroll, Accounting, and Human Resources, with exposure to complex payroll structures and the opportunity to help improve the systems and processes that keep the organization running. This role is onsite five days per week and offers onsite parking, gym access, and a competitive benefits package.

About this role 

As the Payroll Specialist, you'll help manage payroll processing and payroll accounting across multiple Sabey companies, each with unique structures and requirements. You'll support roughly 375 employees with monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly pay frequencies while partnering closely with Accounting, Human Resources, employees, managers, ADP, and other external partners. 

This salaried, non-exempt role is a strong fit for someone who combines payroll expertise with an analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach. You'll have the opportunity to work across payroll compliance, accounting, benefits, reporting, and process improvement while continuing to build your expertise in a complex, multi-state environment.  

Your Contribution Will Likely Include 

  • Prepare and process payroll for multiple companies across multiple states, supporting approximately 375 employees with monthly, bi-weekly, and weekly payroll cycles.  
  • Serve as a resource to employees, managers, and internal departments on payroll and payroll accounting questions.  
  • Maintain accurate payroll/HR system data in ADP Workforce Now for new hires, employee changes, and terminations.  
  • Review and remit employee retirement plan contributions and support payroll- and benefits-related audits.  
  • Partner with ADP and other vendors to maintain effective service and resolve payroll-related issues.  
  • Interpret union contracts and apply associated payroll requirements.  
  • Prepare Washington State L&I filings, HSA employer contributions, union reports, and recurring payroll reports.  
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll liability accounts to support accurate general ledger reporting.  
  • Review and submit quarterly and annual tax reports and statements generated by ADP, including state tax reports, Forms 940 and 941, W-2s, 1095-Cs, and 1094-Cs.  
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices against payroll deductions and memos.  
  • Respond to payroll-related notices and requests, including verifications of employment, garnishments, and IRS notices.  

Experience You Will Bring 

  • 2+ years of related professional experience.  
  • Solid working knowledge of state and federal payroll compliance and payroll tax laws.  
  • Understanding of accounting processes and how payroll data and funds flow into the general ledger.  
  • Experience administering company payroll and collaborating with external providers and employees to deliver accurate, responsive service.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.  
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.  
  • Ability to stay organized and effective in a fast-paced, fluid environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.  
  • A forward-thinking approach and interest in researching, implementing, and improving payroll processes, including new entities, earnings, deductions, and memo codes.  
  • Experience with payroll accounting preferred.  
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred.  
  • CPP certification preferred.  
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn and utilize AI tools and technology.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $64,000 - $97,000.
